We have two types of fat in our body: brown fat and white fat. White fat cells are large and take up space, brown fat cells are smaller and compact

How Cold Works
Ray began the south beach diet again using cold to chill his body into losing weight. Instead of losing 1.5 lbs a week like he did previously, he lost over 4 lbs a week using cold therapy. The best part? He kept the weight off.
Many published authors and doctors are now advocating their followers to get with the cold program.
Water ever cold therapy you use, make sure when you use water or ice, the cold is focused on your neck, face, and shoulders, which will activate fat burning.
The extreme end of the cold therapy followers suggest taking walks in cold weather with short sleeves and no jacket, submerging yourself in a bath of ice water, and other things.
Most trainers and nutritionists have you drink at least 2 glasses of ice water before eating.

Dr Dukan of The Dukan Diet suggests cold showers to activate fat burning.
Tim Ferris Author of The 4-hr Body tested different cold methods on himself and found what he thinks is the easiest way to lose weight using cold therapy.
His suggestions:
Put icepacks on your back and neck before going to bed or both before bed and early morning if you want to speed up fat burning
How To Shower
Take a warm shower for a minute and then turn the shower to cold. Make sure to get the cold water on your back and neck to activate fat burning and then turn and get the cold water in your face. Anywhere from 27 seconds to 5 minutes of cold shower will skyrocket your fat loss.
